DELQA

Color & Sound Finishing

Installation film for Microsoft, created with Listen.

Final sound by OTHR Labs, ensuring clarity and consistency across playback environments.

Winner of three Cannes Lions, including Gold for Sound Design.

Overview

DELQA was a large-scale interactive installation created by Microsoft, Matthew Dear, and Listen at the New Museum in New York.

Using Kinect technology, audience movement shaped sound and space in real time — repositioning the platform as a creative tool rather than a gaming device.

Our Role

OTHR Labs was brought in to deliver the final film and ensure it translated beyond the physical installation.

We handled finishing across color and sound, shaping a cohesive narrative that preserved the spatial and emotional depth of the experience.

Additional scope included on-site documentary capture and edit.

Impact

DELQA received three Cannes Lions, including Gold for Sound Design.

The project became a benchmark for experiential storytelling — demonstrating how technology, sound, and audience interaction can merge into a cohesive brand experience.
